Arriving by car ferry from Gourock

If travelling from/via the Glasgow area
drive to the end of M8, and continue through Greenock and Gourock on the A8/A770. Approx. a mile south of Gourock you will reach McInroy’s Point on the right. This is the departure point for Western Ferries’ service to Hunter’s Quay. The frequent crossings last c. 20 mins and tickets may be bought on board. For fares and schedule information, please see www.western-ferries.co.uk (skip next paragraph).

If travelling up from Ayrshire
Follow A78 coastal road joining A770 shortly after Inverkip. Follow A770 for c. 3 miles and McInroy’s Point (Western Ferries – see link above) will be on your left.

The following directions now apply.

After disembarking at Hunter’s Quay
turn right on to the A815. Follow the coast road until reaching a T- junction in Sandbank. Turn right and follow this road around the head of Holy Loch.

After a couple of miles you will pass Cot House Services on your right (Note: the nearest garage and mini supermarket to Feòrag Lodge!). Continue on A815 and shortly you will pass the entrance to Puck’s Glen on your right. Turn in at the “Lamont Lodges” sign c. 400 yds. further along on the right. Once on site, swing left and Feòrag Lodge (No. 10) is set on slightly higher ground roughly 100 yards on the right. The private parking place is adjacent to the steps leading up to the lodge area.

Arriving by road from other directions

If travelling by road from other parts of Scotland and not using the ferry from Gourock, you must eventually join the northern end of the A815 where it joins the A83 just east of Cairndow. The A83 is the road which connects Arrochar to Inveraray and includes the Rest & Be Thankful. Once on the A815 head for Dunoon via Strachur.

Some 4 miles after leaving Strachur, you will reach Loch Eck, a 7 mile long glacial loch. Continue past the southern end of Loch Eck and shortly you will pass Benmore Gardens on the right. Please slow down at this point as it is roughly 1 mile from the gates of Benmore Gardens to the entrance to Lamont Lodges on the left.

Once on site, swing left and Feòrag Lodge (No. 10) is set on slightly higher ground roughly 100 yards on the right. The private parking place is adjacent to the steps leading up to the lodge area.
